Legal Education |
Bahamian students wishing to study law and gain professional qualifications for practice in The Bahamas, are at a distinct disadvantage in gaining entry to the law faculty at the University of the West Indies and to the Norman Manley Law School or the Hugh Wooding Law School, the regional institutions for the study of law. Pursuing these studies in the United Kingdom is beyond the financial capability of many Bahamian students who, as trained professionals, would be valuable to the further development of our country as attorneys, magistrates, prosecutors and the like.
An FNM Government in its second term will:
Provide for the establishment of a faculty of law at the College of The Bahamas as an extension of the programme provided by the University of the West Indies. Establish, under the Council of Legal Education, the third law school approved for the region.
